"Once I was a lonely Rook upon a distant shore, and I would murder for my queen so that we might win a war. Now mine eyes see the heart that once we did search for, and I fear this heart shall be mended, nevermore." - Raven

Raven is a supprting character in Heartless, Jest's companion and later becomes a good friend of Cath's. As a bird, he spouts poetry and maintains a constant stream of jabs & quips between Jest and himself, often quoting Edgar Allen Poe. Cath is often startled to see that the Raven's shadow resembles a hooded man wielding an axe.

Raven is a fellow Rook and was the executioner for the White Queen. After Jest‘s death, he and Catherine mourn, though resolve to not talking. Cath describes him to be sad and "even more melancholy."

Quotes[]

'"Good eve, fair lady, your forgiveness we implore, to come so brashly tapping, tapping at your chamber door."

"Oh, well, this isn't exactly my chamber door. More like a window, actually."

'The Raven bobbed his head. "I made some alterations for the sake of the rhyme."
